About the Book
The night before her first trip to Dim Sum Palace, Liddy tries to imagine what it will be like. Is it really a palace? Does an empress live there? Liddy’s so excited that she can’t sleep.
When a delicious smell floats into her bedroom, she decides to follow it and soon finds herself in the kitchen of a real palace. While looking at all the delicious food, she falls into the dim sum filling and gets rolled into a dumpling. She continues her adventure as a dumpling and even gets to meet an empress before she is whisked back to the safety of her bedroom.
Dim Sum Palace is a humorous adventure that both entertains and educates. This book will inspire kids to be adventurous when it comes to trying new foods from other cultures. It will encourage them to think about how other foods are made and imagine what they might taste like.
Liddy’s excitement about visiting the Dim Sum Palace is contagious. She teaches young readers to approach new experiences with both imagination and excitement. The illustrations of food and how it is made are beautifully drawn. Overall, young readers will enjoy this whimsical adventure!
About the Author
X. FANG, who also goes by Susan, is a visual artist and maker of books for young readers. She exhibits her art throughout the U.S. and internationally and has worked professionally as a graphic designer and art director for film and television studios. Born in Taichung, Taiwan, raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she now lives in rural Maine with her husband and their dog, Pamela. Dim Sum Palace is X. Fang’s first picture book.
